Do you want to take that special someone out to do something fun and special but find you don’t have the cash to do what you have in mind? Your budget is already so tight in college, it’s hard for most students to be able to go on dates consistently. But there are fun cheap dates that will still impress them.

Whether you want to go out with your friends or impress someone, here are some cheap date ideas that are still fun.

1. Dollar Theater

Most cities and towns will have a discounted theater where they show movies that the big box theaters are no longer playing. They’re a little bit cozier, and they usually have a little bit more character which will make the experience fun and unique! If you do have a little extra cash, you can purchase treats there, or you could sneak some treats in. Contrary to popular belief, many theaters don’t have a strict policy on outside food and drink.

    2. Thrift Store Outfits

If you’re feeling a little more creative, take your date to a local thrift store and style each other! You’re showing trust in your date by letting them style you. This will help ease any awkward tension because you’re already putting yourself in their hands! Walk around in public with your new outfits if you’re feeling extra bold.

      3. Visit the Library

Visit your local library or bookstore and read each other’s favorite books. It is romantic to walk down through the aisles looking for something interesting to read. Take it a step further and buy books that you can read together. You could also download your favorite book from AudiobooksNow.com and listen to it together.  If you do, you’ll have something to talk to them about for weeks after the date is over.

        4. Take a Hike

No really, take a hike! For the outdoorsy type, hiking is something they probably already love so they will be happy to go with you. Enjoying beautiful sights together will bring you closer. If hiking isn’t an option, you can do something else outdoors like a bike ride or swimming.

          5. Road Trip

There is probably somewhere around your college town that both of you have not visited. So why not jump in the car and go? You can get out and explore a new area to create new memories.

            6. Fruit Picking

If you live near a farm or an orchard, there are certain seasons when picking fruit will be available. Picking your own fruit is so much more personal than buying it at a store or even at a farmer’s market. Bonus if you can bring them home afterward and make something sweet. Baking together will let you know how compatible you are.

You may be on a budget right now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take your date out to do something fun! Creating memories doesn’t have to cost money as long as you’re together. For more ideas, visit our home page.
